Thomas A. Edge Archives & Special Collections
The Athabasca University Archives was created on May 28, 1979, by Athabasca University Governing Council (AUGC). In November 1991 the archives was renamed the Thomas A. Edge Archives & Special Collections as a tribute to Tom Edge, Athabasca University's first Librarian.
Currently the Thomas A. Edge Archives & Special Collections contains over 300 metres of textual records, 12,000 photographs and negatives, and 3,600 moving images and sound recordings.
Objectives
The Thomas A. Edge Archives & Special Collections serves as the final repository to preserve the historical records of Athabasca University and the University community. The Archives supports the Strategic University Plan to foster and expand research and scholarship at Athabasca University, and to enhance partnerships and collaborations with other internationally recognized research institutions.
